Charts & Graphs: add live charts and graphs to your slides
Charts & Graphs adds animated charts to your slides: progress rings, gauges, progress bars, bar and column charts, donuts, line charts, big numbers and star ratings. Type your numbers in, or connect them to Dynamic Data so they stay up to date by themselves. Charts animate each time the slide plays.
Chart types
Type | What it shows | Good for |
Ring | A circle that fills toward a goal, with the number inside or beside it | Fundraisers, targets, completion |
Gauge | A half circle that fills toward a goal | Satisfaction, capacity, scores |
Progress | A horizontal bar that fills toward a goal | Funds raised, sign-ups, quotas |
Bars | One horizontal bar per item | Leaderboards, team points, sales by region |
Columns | One vertical column per item | Results by quarter, house points |
Donut | Slices of a whole, with a legend; set Hole size to 0 for a pie | Shares and breakdowns |
Line | A line, or a filled area, across several points | Trends over days or weeks |
Number | One big number that counts up | KPIs such as new customers |
Rating | Stars filled to a score, such as 4.8 out of 5 | Review ratings |
Ring, Gauge, Progress, Number and Rating show one value. Bars, Columns, Donut and Line show a list of items.
Add a chart to a slide
Open a slide in the editor and open Apps.
Choose Charts & Graphs (under Dashboards, or search for "charts").
Pick a chart type. The chart starts with sample numbers so you can see how it looks.
Enter your own numbers (see Enter your numbers below) and adjust the settings. The chart on the slide updates as you go.
Click Add to slide, then move and resize the chart like any other element.
Enter your numbers
Ring, Gauge, Progress, Number and Rating
Value: the number to show, such as 73.
Goal: the target the value fills toward (Ring, Gauge and Progress). For Rating, it is Out of (stars), such as 5.
Caption (Ring and Gauge), Label (Progress), Label above (Number) or Caption below (Rating): the words with the number.
Details line (Ring, Progress and Number): an extra line of text. On a Ring it shows when Text is set to Beside the ring.
Captions can include live numbers: [value], [goal], [pct] (percent of goal), [remaining] (goal minus value) and [total]. For example, "Goal: [goal] - only [remaining] to go!"
Bars, Columns, Donut and Line
Under Data, each row is one item, with a Label, a Value and, for Bars and Columns, an optional Detail. Use + Add row to add items (up to 24), the arrows to reorder them and × to remove one. Each row's colour well gives that item its own colour; auto goes back to the chart colours.
Format the numbers
Numbers: Number, Percent (adds a % sign to the number you enter) or Currency, with 0, 1 or 2 decimal places.
Currency symbol: shown when Currency is picked, such as $ or €.
Before numbers and After numbers (under Advanced settings): text such as + or " pts" around every number.
Show (Ring, Gauge, Progress, Donut and Rating): what the big number is, such as Percent of goal, Value, Total or Nothing.
Style the chart
Colours: pick the chart colours (Star colour for Rating). The first colour can be a gradient on Ring, Gauge, Progress, Bars and Columns. Colour each item (Bars and Columns) gives every item its own colour.
Track colour: the empty part behind the fill (Gridline colour for Line, Empty star colour for Rating).
Thickness: the ring, bar, column or line width, or star size.
Ring: put the text Inside the ring or Beside the ring.
Donut: set the Hole size (0 makes a pie), a Centre caption and where the Legend goes (Right, Below or None).
Bars and Columns: Highlight the leader in its own colour, Rank badges, and Order (As entered, Highest first or Lowest first).
Bars: place bars Beside the labels or Under the labels, and Put each row on a card.
Line: Fill under the line, Smooth curve, Dots and Gridlines and axis.
Number and Rating: Align left, centre or right.
Fonts. With the chart selected, the toolbar above the slide shows Labels, Values and Details buttons. Pick one, then set its font, size and colour: Labels are the item names and labels, Values the numbers and Details the captions and detail lines. The chart's background, border, corners and shadow work like any other element's.
Animation
Charts animate every time the slide plays on a sign: rings sweep, bars and columns grow, lines draw and numbers count up. Under Advanced settings:
Animate on players turns the animation on or off.
Count numbers up makes the numbers count up instead of appearing at once.
Duration (ms), Delay (ms) and, for Bars and Columns, Stagger between items (ms) control the timing.
The editor shows the finished chart. To watch the animation while editing a chart, click Preview animation.
Edit a chart
Select the chart on your slide.
Click Edit App in the menu above it.
Make your changes, then click Update App. Cancel puts the chart back as it was.
The chart keeps its size, position, fonts, background, border and corners.
Charts inside a group can't be edited this way. Ungroup them first, edit the chart, then group them again.
Connect a chart to Dynamic Data
A chart can take its numbers from Dynamic Data values, so changing a value updates the chart on every sign within seconds, with the chart animating to the new number. See the Dynamic Data article for how to create values.
Open the chart's settings (Edit App for a chart already on the slide).
Under Value or Goal, or on any data row, open the dropdown that says Typed value (or Typed goal) and choose a value. Each value is listed with its current number.
Click Add to slide or Update App.
The typed number is used until the linked value holds a number. Link Number, Price or Percent values: text values that contain digits, such as "Q3 2025", can turn into unexpected numbers.
The dropdowns only appear once your company has at least one Dynamic Data value. When a bar or column chart is sorted, items re-sort on the sign as their values change.
To see which values a chart uses, select it and click the database icon in the toolbar above the slide.
Troubleshooting
My chart shows 0
The chart has no number to show. Enter a Value for each row. If the row is linked to Dynamic Data, check that the value holds a number; until it does, the chart uses the typed number.
The chart shows an odd number, such as 32025
The chart is linked to a text value that contains digits, such as "Q3 2025". Link it to a Number, Price or Percent value instead.
The percentage is over 100%
The value is above the goal. The ring or bar shows full, and the number shows the real percentage.
I can't add more rows
A chart holds up to 24 rows.
The chart doesn't animate
Charts animate on signs, not in the editor. Check that Animate on players is on under Advanced settings, and use Preview animation to watch it while editing.
I can't edit a chart inside a group
Ungroup it, click Edit App, make your changes, then group it again.
All my donut slices are the same colour
Give each row its own colour with the colour well next to it.
I see "The chart settings could not be read" or "Charts is still loading"
Close the settings panel and open it again.
